How To Extend Your Weenect Tracker's Battery Life ?

Weenect trackers' battery life varies based on the model and usage conditions. For instance, the Weenect XS can last up to 10 days with a power-saving area and Airplane Mode enabled, while the Weenect XT can last up to 3 weeks under similar conditions. However, factors like GSM signal quality and GPS tracking frequency can significantly impact this duration.

Factors affecting battery life

  1. GSM signal quality: Battery life directly depends on GSM signal quality. If your tracker is in a low-coverage area, it will frequently lose connection and attempt to reconnect. Each reconnection attempt uses a large amount of energy, equivalent to about 10 minutes of normal usage. Additionally, when sending data under these conditions, the tracker requires more power to transmit information, further increasing battery consumption. In such cases, battery life can be significantly reduced, potentially lasting less than 24 hours in poor network conditions.
  2. GPS frequency: The frequency at which the tracker sends its position plays a key role. Sending location data every 30 seconds consumes more energy than every 10 minutes. You can adjust this interval directly from your Weenect app.
  3. Movement: The tracker is equipped with a motion detector that helps save battery. It does not send location data when your pet is stationary, such as when they are sleeping.

Tips to extend battery life

  1. Set up a power-saving area: If your tracker detects your home WiFi, it will disable GPS tracking, assuming it is in a safe area. This feature can extend battery life by several days. You can find it in your tracker's settings.
  2. Enable Airplane Mode: This mode is only available if you've previously set up a power-saving area. It allows the tracker to disconnect from cellular networks when near your home WiFi, further extending battery life.
  3. Limit Superlive Mode: This mode sends a location every second and is useful for quickly finding your pet, but it consumes a lot of energy. Use it only when necessary.
  4. Avoid extreme temperatures: Very low or high temperatures (-5°C and +40°C) can reduce battery efficiency.
